Education asset management planning strategies for Local Authorities

Efficient and effective stewardship of educational assets is key to creating the conditions for successful teaching and learning and for school improvement.

In addition, the buildings and accommodation must meet the requirements of 14-19 provision, extended schools and the evolving school curriculum.

All schools and Local Authorities will be looking to gain maximum value from the various funding streams available, and need to work together on capital investment planning.

Local Authorities will also have to plan within the wider context of their education estate. Success at this stage will depend on the quality of the survey data that will inform the Local Authority's asset management policy.
