Achieving excellence: turning round an underperforming department

Achieving excellence: turning round an underperforming department

An underperforming subject can impact negatively on learning, achievement and perceived leadership and management capabilities across the whole school.

Who is it suitable for?
All international schools that want to experience how they can increase rigour, improve motivation and provide their staff with new ideas and ways of working.

What is it?
Our highly experienced consultant teams will diagnose swiftly and effectively areas for improvement and support senior leaders and departmental heads to raise performance by effecting positive change.

This extensive programme of support includes:

  • approximately 10 days of expert consultancy support;
  • a diagnostic review of quality and standards across your chosen department;
    lesson observations;
  • a six week action plan which can include coaching and mentoring, support to improve classroom practice, peer teaching and anything else your school requires to enable impact;
  • a written report of key findings from your review and progress made so far against actions. These can be used to provide evidence for your SEF and support continued improvement monitoring.

Key benefits and outcomes

  • A department able to drive and secure continuing improvement in learning and teaching.
  • A confident team with an ambitious vision for their subject and school.
  • Ongoing support, coaching, mentoring and training available if required.
