Making Every Child Matter

In-school training

Who is it suitable for?
Headteachers, deputy and assistant headteachers, department and subject leaders and those with a responsibility for monitoring and evaluating Every Child Matters.

What is it about?
To make Every Child Matters an integral part of your curriculum, it needs to be built into every aspect of school life. The ECM agenda is about providing opportunities for open-ended investigation, creativity, experimentation, teamwork and performance. It also promotes activities beyond the school: parental involvement; bringing together experts from the community; recreational enjoyment; taking responsibility for events and activities and encountering challenging and unfamiliar contexts.

This training day supports schools to develop and meet the aims which underpin the new National Curriculum:

  • successful learners
  • confident individuals
  • responsible individuals

What you will you able to do?

  • understand the place of the Every Child Matters agenda in and across the curriculum
  • understand why each outcome is important and its impact on curriculum design
  • differentiate the types of learning experiences that can be designed to meet each of the outcomes.

The accompanying course materials include a wealth of information, DVDs with examples of good practice and an Every Child Matters audit tool for use on return to school.
