Inclusion of children with disabilities in early childhood care and education

This think piece, by Sarah Ayesiga and Dr Pamela Nizeyimana of the Special Needs Education department in the MoES, discusses Uganda's position on provision of ECCE to children with special needs, especially those with disabilities.

It outlines the challenges that have persistently curtailed access to ECCE, and suggests strategies for the mainstreaming of special needs in ECCE centres and programmes.

This is the fourth in a series of think pieces produced as part of Cambridge Education’s work with the Government of Uganda.

Through funding from the Global Partnership for Education, Cambridge Education is currently working with the Ugandan Ministry of Education and Sports to develop a revised 2018 early childhood care and education policy.
