Planning is an essential function of education management. We help ensure that plans and budgets are matched, and that there is both the capacity and capability to execute activities.
We also seek to establish planning, budgeting and monitoring as a cyclical management process – one that is consultative to build understanding and support among those responsible for carrying out planned work.
Effective use of available funds
The limiting factors on education spending are the size of the economy and competing government priorities. Education budgets are typically constrained by government-wide bureaucratic procedures and salaries take up the bulk of expenditure leaving little funding for anything else. However, effective use and management of available funds can significantly alter the effectiveness of education delivery. It is here we aim to help make a difference.
Financial managements as a component of our programmes
Improving financial management systems is an integral component of our large programmes. We help education authorities and institutions to make the best use of scarce funds and resources, cut down waste and inefficiency, and improve value for money. Priorities need to be aligned to resources and sufficient funds must be available to do what is required. Skills and systems must be developed to manage funds efficiently and responsibly, and there must be cost controls in place with transparent and well-functioning structures of accountability.
