Cambridge Education was appointed as Academy partner by the Diocese of Salisbury Board of Education (SDBE) to provide management of school improvement and educational support services for Academies in the Salisbury Multi Academy Trust.

Opportunity

The purpose of the partnership was to establish a Church of England Salisbury Multi Academy Trust (DSMAT) that would be the sponsor of schools identified as requiring intervention and sponsorship, and would deliver services and support to secure rapid improvement in the identified schools and transformational change to ensure outstanding outcomes for children.

Solution

Delivery of an Improving Schools Programme of support to the following schools:

• Whitesheet Church of England Academy
• Southbroom St James Church Academy
• The Dunbury C of E Academy
• St Mary’s Beaminster Church Academy

Through the following activities:

• support, challenge and QA of the development (with the academy) of Raising attainment plans (RAP)
• monitoring achievement and self-evaluation of the Academy through joint lesson observations, child observations, learning walks, appreciative enquiry, work scrutiny, data analysis and the identification of focused and timely CPD.

Outcome

• Provision of a highly qualified Chair for the Project board meetings, gratis to monitor the outcomes and impact of the RAP
• Contract management for services
• Secondment of senior staff to the Trust to provide high level support throughout the duration of the contract.
