This study was commissioned by the World Bank in response to a growing recognition that countries in the region will need to boost performance significantly in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics subjects if they are to realise their full potential in a competitive global market increasingly shaped by the use of new technologies.
The findings of the study will be used to support the efforts of the World Bank, and its partners, to improve mathematics education across Sub-Saharan Africa and in other developing economies where similar challenges are faced.
